The Lingenbrink Family, consisting of 7th grade EPS student, Rachel, her sibling, Sarah, and her parents, Steve and Terri, recently returned to the Seattle area after participating in a joint project of Newport High School Cisco Academy, Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Antigua.
The purpose of this project is to increase literacy in the area of Information Technology on the island of Antigua. Through the help of many corporations and foundations in Seattle as well as Antigua the group collected 225+ computers to be donated to schools on the Island of Antigua. The hard-working students first design and build computer labs in schools where they network the computers together and to the Internet. They then load Windows XP and various other software programs on the computers. In four to eight hours a lab is designed and built. This year they achieved their goal of installing 17 labs in 11 days.
