6/24/2009 - Class of 2009 National Merit Scholarship Winner!

Paul Strong, son of Tom and Alice Strong of Issaquah, is a member of our first class of graduating seniors and he was recently informed that he has earned the distinct privilege of being named a National Merit Scholarship winner!
Each year approximately 1.5 million students take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and as a result enter a nationwide competition for recognition and awards. Of that group, 34,000 are named "Commended Students." This group of commended students is further reduced to 16,000 semi-finalists. Finally, approximately 8,000 students, or 0.6% of the original test takers, are named scholarship winners.
Congratulations to the entire Strong Family on this tremendous academic achievement and honor. Best of luck, Paul, as you enter the Honors Program at Arizona State University!
