Eastside Prep will remain closed through Friday, January 20th due to ice and frozen ground conditions. Assume that classes will be in session on Monday since all efforts will be made tomorrow through Sunday to make the campus accessible. Hopefully all our families and employees will have power restored soon as well. Stay safe and warm, and we’ll see you Monday.

Fine and Performing Arts Showcase

All Eastside Prep students, parents, faculty, staff and friends of our community are invited to attend the Fine and Performing Arts Showcase on: Thursday, November 10^th in the cafeteria from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

At the end of each trimester, the Fine and Performing Arts team showcase the performances and art works of students who have been actively studying, rehearsing and creating visual arts works, music and theatre. You will hear from Instrumental Music Ensemble along with choral and world drumming performances. A couple of dramatic pieces may also be featured, and new works of visual art will be on display throughout the school. Seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Finding Kind was a huge success!

Our screening of Finding Kind was a huge success! We are so proud to be a part of the energy and commitment that was collectively shown by our audience members last night. Finding Kind is a film that addresses the topic of girl bullying and the negative peer culture that has unfortunately become the norm across our country. Produced by two college students, Lauren Parsekian and Molly Stroud, this film has started a movement called the Kind Campaign, and has made its way across our country.

With the help of 20 Eastside Prep student and faculty volunteers, Kirkland Performance Center was nearly full with 360 people in attendance. As intended, this was truly a community event with about 65% of the attendees not being a part of our EPS community. During the event, Eastside Prep presented the film and followed with a Q&A session led by EPS’s Student Body President, Brynn Walund and Vice President, Jeanine Reina. Brynn and Jeanine led the audience members in a reflection of the film and a discussion of what we can all do as individuals and as a community to end the negative girl interactions and culture that exists in our country. Three EPS teachers facilitated a call to action by asking participants to fill out three cards used nationwide in the Kind Campaign:

- The Kind Card – to communicate a specific kind message to someone of their choice

- The Apology Card – to apologize to a person for an action or verbal exchange that they regret.

- The Pledge Card – to pledge how they plan to make our world more kind

Lastly, the audience members were given a chance to publicly pledge their commitments written on their last card, and we had over 40 students walk up to the microphone and read their pledges to resounding applause.

Finding Kind

Bring your daughters (or sons) and join us at the Kirkland Performance Center on September 26, at 7:00PM as Eastside Prep hosts a free screening of the independent documentary film “Finding Kind.”

In “Finding Kind,” filmmakers Lauren Parsekian and Molly Thompson, set out in a cross country journey of discovery and education. Interviewing women and girls along the way about their lives and experiences, Parsekian and Thompson find, among all the unique personal stories, some universal truths about growing up as girls. “Finding Kind” is a document of that journey, and of the filmmakers’ quest to take these experiences and find a common ground of kindness and mutual respect. In addition to all of the individual girls and women who share their personal experiences about girl on girl bullying with the filmmakers, Parsekian and Thompson include interviews with respected experts and authors in the fields of psychology, education and the interrelationships of woman and girls.

A question and answer session will begin immediately following the screening facilitated by our School Counselor, Kelly Moore, and Eastside Prep’s Student Body President and Vice-President, both girls in their Senior year.

The summer provides a wonderful opportunity to step out of life’s daily routine and embrace the world in new ways. It is a time to explore, create, serve, inspire, and think outside of the box. Additionally, the summer can provide the opportunity to learn about oneself, build strong friendships with others, and engage with new people and cultures through travel

At Eastside Prep Preparatory School (EPS), the EPSummer Program exists to foster meaningful and memorable learning experiences for students. Our programs are designed to be hands-on so that learning engages both mind and body. Whether being part of a sports team or working together to build a kayak, students are presented with opportunities to lead and innovate. Learning arises from relevant, fun and integrated experiences during EPSummer.
