Our Community
At the turn of the century – in 2000 – a handful of people on the eastside
began to consider the possibility that a new, independent school might be a welcome addition to the evolving educational landscape. They started networking, and discovered that others shared their interest in creating a new school of thought, to serve students from Seattle to the Sammamish Plateau and everywhere in between.
Eastside Preparatory School opened its doors with 16 students in grades 6 and 7 at its present location in September, 2003. Now, with 240 students in grades 5 – 12, Eastside Prep has established a permanent campus in Kirkland, is fielding teams and producing plays, and welcoming our alumni back on campus for visits from their respective colleges and universities.
Our thinking curriculum is the hallmark of our program, which focuses on teaching students to think like the writers, scientists, historians, artists and mathematicians whose work they study. At Eastside Prep, our commitment is to enable our students to think for themselves – and for the good of the planet.
At Eastside Prep we are proud of the rich community of engaged students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff who work in partnership to encourage and support each other.
