Biographies (in alphabetical order)
Jeff Adair. Dean of Students, Upper School History.
M.A. and B.A., History, Western Washington University.
Jeff quickly became a presence across many academic disciplines when he joined EPS. He currently serves as the Dean of Students, Director of Athletics, and teaches History in the Upper School. Jeff brings a wealth of world and cultural experience to the EPS community as he has lived in seven countries and traveled through sixty. At EPS since 2004.
“After a big loss in Upper School Women’s volleyball, I asked myself why the girls did not seem upset. It occurred to me that they were used to existing in an environment that fosters safe and supportive growth. They were pleased with simple improvement. Both the ref and coach commented after the game how impressed they were with our attitude.”
Vickie Baldwin. Director of Institutional Advancement.
Vickie joined Eastside Prep as the school’s first Director of Institutional Advancement. Vickie has experience in commercial and residential property management and construction. Her passion for all things fundraising and community building comes from her years at The Little School where she served as a Board member and Development Committee chairperson. Vickie, her husband Bob and son Sam live in Bellevue. At EPS since 2011.

Doug Blair. Director of Athletics.
J.D., University of New Mexico; B.A. in Social Sciences, University of Washington.
Doug teaches PE in both the Middle and Upper Schools at EPS and coaches volleyball and basketball. He previously taught physical education and coached basketball, soccer, track, and ultimate Frisbee at The Northwest School in Seattle. In addition to athletics, Doug has studied law and is a lover of music: he has performed professionally as a vocalist throughout the Seattle area. At EPS since 2009.

Andrew Boyd, CPA. Chief of Finance and Operations.
B.A., Business Administration (Cum Laude), University of Washington.
Andrew Boyd has over 20 years of experience in finance and business administration and brings to EPS a blend of corporate and start-up expertise. He has been a licensed CPA in the State of Washington since 1991.
Early in his career, Andrew worked with KPMG Peat Marwick, where he focused on Audits of Healthcare (for Profit and Not for Profit) and High Tech clients. Andrew spent several years in the healthcare industry, most notably with DaVita Healthcare (NYSE-DVA) where he served as Assistant Controller and Director of Accounting. He was CFO for NetVersant Seattle and held Controller positions for Microsoft Services and Microsoft Sales.
Andrew is a 4 time startup veteran, including Co-Founding Atigeo LLC, a data pattern recognition and personalization software company that has raised over $33M in private equity financing. Andrew also serves on the Board of Directors of Tangerine Power, a renewable energy startup. Andrew also serves as a Dealflow Coach/Screener for Zino Society, a Seattle based Angel Investor organization.
Andrew volunteers his time heavily to the soccer community. He is an active USSF Soccer referee and can be found on the pitch most Sunday afternoons. He volunteers administrative time as the Treasurer of the Washington State Soccer Referee Committee.

Jonathan Briggs. Director of Technology, Physics Teacher.
B.A., Physics, Williams College.
Jonathan spent four years teaching math and physics, chairing the upper school science and math departments, and coaching volleyball and golf at the Bentley School in California. At EPS since 2005.

Jennifer Cross. Webmaster.
M.L.S., Texas Woman’s University; B.A., Creative Writing, University of Illinois.
Jennifer has experience as a librarian, database programmer, white-water raft guide, stay-at-home mother, and semi-permanent graduate student. In her free time she reads vampire novels, practices kung fu, and spends time with her husband and son. At EPS since 2011.
Matt Delaney. Academic Dean, Upper School History.
A.B., Political Science, Princeton University; M.I.T., Middle & Secondary Education, University of Washington.
Matt spent 7 years teaching History, Political Science, English, and Media Studies, and as a small school facilitator at Edmonds-Woodway H.S. Matt serves as Chair of the EPS Curriculum Committee and devotes much of his time and attention to developing the school’s approach to academic integration. He currently competes as a recreational triathlete, open-water swimmer, and cyclist. At EPS since 2007.
“My advisees know that our time together is an opportunity to relax with a smaller group of people that they know well. Most importantly they also know that they have an advocate in me, and whenever needed I am there to help them process and figure out their lives at EPS and beyond.”
Lauren Formo. Director of Admissions.
B.S., Psychology, Santa Clara University.
Lauren comes to EPS from a background in youth programs and non-profit management. Her experience with youth and families has been in multiple educational and recreational settings. Most recently, she spent three years as the Director of Youth Programs and Associate Director of Friends Outside, a social services agency in CA that served youth and families impacted by incarceration. In addition to her work in Admissions and College Counseling, Lauren also coaches our Upper School women’s volleyball. At EPS since 2007.

Tina Green. Business Office Assistant.
Tina earned her bookkeeping certificate from Bellevue Community College. Prior to working at Eastside Prep she worked at Overlake Hospital and Whidbey General Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She, her husband, and their two girls live in Bellevue. At EPS since 2008.
“At heart, I am a small town country girl. I love working at EPS because it has a small close knit community feeling. Instead of being yet one more face among a thousand, I have a name and a place.”
Bart Gummere. Upper School Head, Upper School Math.
M.A., Liberal Studies, Social Sciences, Wesleyan University; B.A., Economics, Middlebury College.
Bart Gummere came to Eastside Prep from Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia, where he served as Assistant Head of the Upper School. At Collegiate, he was responsible for college counseling, mentoring teachers, teaching math, and coaching golf and baseball. Before moving to Collegiate, Bart spent eight years at Pingree School in Massachusetts where he was Director of College Counseling, taught math and coached baseball. Bart previously worked as a college admissions officer at Middlebury College in Vermont.

Teachers and administrators are each willing to make any changes here if they believe those changes will best serve our students, even when those changes require harder work. Parents believe in the school’s mission and do much to support it as well.”
Cristina (Tina) Hadden. Administrative Services Director.
B.S., Management Engineering, Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines).
As the Administrative Services Director, Tina provides support to the Head of School and the Board of Trustees. She brings with her over ten years of general office administration, primarily assisting senior executives in the sales & marketing field. Outside of work, she likes to spend time with family, traveling and exploring new places. Tina also enjoys reading books and working on her latest beading project. At EPS since 2005.

Kristina King. Admissions Associate.
B.S., Biology (Magna Cum Laude), University of Portland.
Kristina came to the Admissions team after working for four years at the University of Portland Admissions Office. She returned to the Seattle area after declining admission to medical school, and is very excited to be working at EPS and passionately promoting education. Kristina has worked as an Executive Assistant for a local environmental clean-up company, as a white-water river rafting guide in Oregon, and was her high school’s Assistant Varsity Softball Coach. She also spent more than a month volunteering at an orphanage, a high school, and a disability center in Siem Reap, Cambodia. At EPS since 2011.
Jane Lin. Upper School Administrative Assistant, Registrar. 
B.M., Music Education (K-12) and B.A., Voice, University of Washington; B.F.A., Graphic Design, Pacific Lutheran University.
Jane began her career as a graphic designer at Visio Corporation. After completing a freelance project drawing football diagrams for the Seattle Seahawks, Jane joined the team as an assistant supporting the coaches in their daily operations. After 9 years in the NFL, Jane pursued her dream of becoming a music teacher by completing her post-baccalaureate degrees. Jane grew up in Taiwan and has taught music in a bilingual Chinese-English school. At EPS since 2011.

Terry Macaluso. Head of School.
Ph.D., Philosophy, University of Colorado; M.A., Philosophy, University of Denver; M.A., Organizational Effectiveness, Fielding Institute; B.A., Philosophy, Loretto Heights College.
Terry was originally retained by the Eastside Preparatory School Board of Trustees in August 2002, to guide them in the development of the school’s mission and vision. She has served as Head of School since 2004. Previously, Dr. Macaluso spent nearly thirty years in independent school and university education, serving as teacher, college counselor, Upper School Director, President, and Head of School in three different schools. In 1999, Dr. Macaluso retired from the headship of Lakeside School in Seattle, after a successful seven-year tenure that included completion of a $50mm capital campaign, construction of three new buildings, quadrupling of the school’s endowment, the creation of an administrative team, the establishment of a faculty evaluation program, curriculum revision process, and implementation of several new programs and traditions. Lakeside’s Macaluso Endowment for Leadership Development was established in 1999; she is the recipient of the 2006 Willard Wright Award for Distinguished Service, given by the Lakeside Board of Trustees to acknowledge extraordinary service to the school.
“I’ve thought about this for a long time – and I’ve tested it personally. There isn’t anything one can do with one’s life that is more important, more valuable, or longer lasting than teaching. I’m reminded of that every day when 5th graders and upper school seniors walk through the courtyard, past my window. In only 8 years, each student is transformed. Think about the impact over the course of a lifetime.”
Kelly Moore. Director of Student Support Services.
Ph.D., Social Work, University of Texas at Austin; M.S.W., University of Southern California; B.A., Occidental College.
Kelly Moore Moore joined Eastside Prep as the school’s first Director of Counseling and Learning Resources. She has worked with adolescents and families for almost twenty years in schools, in-patient psychiatric hospitals, and most recently in private practice. At EPS since 2009.
Jack Nolan. Technology Support Specialist.
M.Ed., Instructional Technology, Lesley College, B.S., Health and Physical Education, Montana State University.
Jack has been teaching in the Seattle area for 20 years. Jack has taught all levels K-12, most recently working as a computer specialist in the Seattle School District. At EPS since 2008.

David Ostrer. Middle School and High School Learning Support.
M.Ed., City University; B.A., Education, Central Washington University
David previously worked as the Director of Learning Support and Academic Coaching at Eastside Catholic School for two years. Prior to that, he taught in the Shoreline School District for 15 years, teaching English Literature, History, Mathematics, as well as special education classes. At EPS since 2011.
Janelle Panday. Accountant.
B.S., Accounting, Woodbury University.
Janelle brings a diverse accounting background to our school which includes television production accounting, financial planning, not-for-profit, and private trust and estate accounting. When Janelle isn’t attending to the daily accounting needs of EPS or guarding the candy monster, she can usually be found having fun with her husband and new daughter. She also enjoys a good book, a quiet hike and a noisy, happy kitchen to cook in.

Randi-Louise Peterson. Middle School Administrative Assistant.
B.A., Communications and Music, Trinity Western University; Cert. Arts & Entertainment Management, Capilano University.
Prior to EPS, Randi-Louise lived in both Vancouver, B.C. and the Yukon Territory working in the arts and entertainment industry for music festivals, arts centers and records labels. She has a passion for Celtic fiddle music and going on various outdoor adventures with her husband. At EPS since 2011.
Stacie Siegfried. Admissions & Marketing Administrative Assistant.
B.A., English, University of Washington; Digital Video Production, Bellevue College.
While in school, Stacie worked in the college television station on various productions including It’s Your City, Bellevue’s version of Evening Magazine, and Coffee and Conversation. Stacie has been a videographer for ten years and a photographer for thirty. She also loves the needle arts, gardening, and any time she can spend outside, whether she is hiking, salmon fishing, bird-hunting, or just taking her RV to some great wineries.
Stacie has two daughters, one who graduated from the University of Washington and one who just joined Washington State University as a freshman. She lives on five acres in Maple Valley with her husband, three dogs, two cats, and a goldfish. At EPS since 2011.
Sammi Stimson. Facilities Director.
M.S.(in progress), Emergency Management, Columbia Southern University; B.S., Business Administration in Project Management (Summa Cum Laude), Columbia Southern University; A.S., Engineering Design Technology, Renton Technical College.
Sammi is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and has worked as a building and housing inspector, had her own contracting business, served in the US Army as a military police officer, served as a police officer for the city of Cleveland, and coached Division I softball at Cleveland State University. She moved to the Seattle area to study Engineer Design Technology. Sammi lives in Redmond, is a percussionist, enjoys singing and swing dancing and is an avid reader. At EPS since 2009.

Ana Safavi. Student Life Coordinator.
B.A., Communications, Psychology Minor, Washington State University.
As the Student Life Coordinator, Ana works with the Dean of Students Office, Athletics and Admissions to promote all student life outside of the classroom. This includes many different activities and events that students and the EPS Community enjoy throughout the year. Prior to Eastside Prep, Ana worked as an event specialist where she planned numerous weddings, corporate events and private parties. Her passion to work with children along with talent to plan events brought her to Eastside Prep where she feels blessed to be in her dream job. At EPS since 2008.
“Working at Eastside Prep has allowed me to see what students are fully capable of. We see every student as a whole: we look at who they are as a person—what interests them, what inspires them, what learning style works best for them. Students in my advisory feel comfortable coming to me for anything and everything; from help with school work to questions about everyday life.”
Sam Uzwack. Middle School Head, Upper School Social Science.
M.I.T., University of Washington; B.A., History, James Madison University.
For seven years, Sam taught 7th-grade humanities at The Northwest School in Seattle, where he also co-coordinated the Outdoor Program, served as chair of the Professional Development Committee, and coached soccer and Ultimate Frisbee. His first teaching position was in an Inupiaq Eskimo Village in arctic Alaska, where he taught Middle School Social Studies and Reading. Sam is also on the staff of the PNAIS Beginning Teachers Institute and is past-chair of the Mountaineers Basic Climbing Course. He enjoys cycling, snowboarding, and backpacking, as well as leading trips for the Outdoor Club. At EPS since 2009.
