Byron Bishop. President of the Board of Trustees.

In February 2003, Byron retired from Expedia Inc., a company he co-founded and where he served as Senior Vice President and as an Executive Officer. During more than eight years of helping build Expedia, Byron’s roles included: responsibility for all product development, leading the air travel business, and most recently creating Expedia’s Corporate Travel division. Prior to Expedia, he worked for Microsoft for thirteen years. Byron holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Washington. Byron joined the Eastside Preparatory School Board of Trustees in 2006. He is also active with The Nature Conservancy and Social Venture Partners.  Byron’s son graduated from EPS in 2011 and he has a daughter in the 11th grade at the school.

Leslie Brewer. Trustee.

Leslie spent 13 years at Oracle Corporation in various Project Management roles around the world, most recently as Senior Practice Director of Consulting in the Seattle office. She retired when her son, Nathan, now a sixth grader at Eastside Preparatory School, was born in 1999. Prior to that, she worked at Educational Testing Service in the Information Systems Department. Leslie now works as a community volunteer. She is currently Co-Chair of Project Outreach at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and has served on the Bellevue Community College Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). Leslie is a registered Girl Scout and co-leads her daughter’s Daisy Scout troop. She also volunteers at Clyde Hill Elementary School, the school her daughter attends. When her son was in elementary school, Leslie served on the PTA at Stevenson Elementary School in Bellevue and was awarded the Golden Acorn for her volunteer work there. Leslie graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Computer Science and Sociology from Goucher College, Towson, Maryland. Leslie is married and has two children.

Brett Burris. Trustee.

Brett graduated from Cornell University’s College of Engineering in 1987, spent 10 years in high-tech, and currently runs a real estate investment company. He is passionate about supporting children and environmental initiatives. With Social Venture Partners, he has served on the Environment Grant Committee in 2002. Brett joined the Child Care Resources Board in 2007. Brett is married with two children.

Vandana Chalana. Trustee.

Vandana holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington. After working as a technical analyst for several years at Safeco Insurance and AT&T Wireless, she put her business degree to great use in launching a software company, Winshuttle, in 2003 with her husband and her brother. At Winshuttle, Vandana was involved in all aspects of running the business including accounting, HR, sales operations, and general business management. After leaving Winshuttle in 2008, Vandana has been an avid community volunteer. She is passionate about education and volunteers at several different institutions including neighborhood schools, Edmonds Community College and First Place School. She also has been a longtime volunteer at Hopelink. Vandana has two children — a son in 8th grade at EPS and a daughter in 5th grade at Cedarwood Elementary in Mill Creek (soon to be an EPS 6th grader!).

Anne Corley. Trustee.

Anne is a graduate of Georgetown University, is fluent in several languages, and has lived abroad in multiple countries. She has worked as a technical writer on the space shuttle program and in the communications departments of 20th Century Fox, MGM, and Univision. Currently Anne volunteers with several nonprofits and dedicates time to her husband and son, who is an EPS 7th grader. Anne is also a competitive athlete and spends her spare time racing crew. Anne joins the Board as an ex-officio member as President of the PA.

Suzan DelBene. Trustee.

Suzan DelBene is corporate vice president of the Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft. She oversees all marketing efforts for the division, including for Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs, Smartphones and Portable Media Centers, and the Windows CE operating system. Suzan joined the Eastside Prep Board of Trustees in 2007. Most recently, Suzan was chief executive officer and president at Nimble Technology Inc., a Seattle-based business integration technology company. She led the company from the development of its business plan to its initial generation of revenue and finally through the company’s acquisition by Actuate Corp. in July 2003. Before joining Nimble Technology, Suzan served as vice president of marketing and store development at drugstore.com inc., an online pharmaceutical company. Suzan has a master’s degree in business from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Reed College in Portland, Ore. She currently serves on the Reed board of trustees. Suzan DelBene’s son, Zach, graduated in 2011, and her daughter, Becca graduated from EPS in 2009.

Janelle Durham. Trustee.

Janelle Durham is the mother of a 12th grade girl and a 9th grade girl at Eastside Prep. She has a BA in Sociology from Brandeis U, a master’s degree in Social Work from U.W., and a professional certificate in Spirituality, Health, and Medicine from Bastyr University. She is a childbirth educator, doula, and social worker. Janelle serves as the Great Starts trainer for Parent Trust for Washington Children, and is taking on a new role as Program Coordinator for PEPS the Program for Early Parent Support.

Richard Fade. Trustee.

Richard Fade is Partner at Ignition. Richard focuses on infrastructure software, consumer and B2B services investments, and currently serves on the boards of Talyst, Azaleos, Centeris, and GotVoice. Prior to joining Ignition, Richard spent 16 years at Microsoft Corporation in several leadership roles. Most recently he was Senior Vice President OEM division where he was responsible for Microsoft’s licensing business with PC OEM and embedded device manufacturers. Before that, he served as VP Desktop and Consumer Applications, overseeing the creation and launch of Office 97, Outlook and several Microsoft Office product line extensions. Richard has also served as Vice President of the Internet Business Unit, and as Vice President Far East Region where he was responsible for product development, sales, marketing and operations for Japan, China and Korea. Richard and his wife Susan, co-founded the Autism Center at the University of Washington. Richard is a board member of the Autism Center, and co-founder and prior chairman of the Autism Treatment Network.

Patricia Friel. Trustee Emeritus.

Patricia Friel , Former Vice President of the Board of Trustees, is currently Treasurer and Chair of the Assets Management Committee. She is a Product Unit Manager at Microsoft, where she has worked on a variety of programming language products including Visual Studio and Visual Basic for Applications. Prior to joining Microsoft 12 years ago, Patricia was a radar systems engineer for Lockheed Martin. She has been an active participant at Chestnut Hill Academy in Bellevue, focusing on the areas of teacher appreciation and the annual yearbook. Patricia received her B.S. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina, an M.B.A. from Monmouth College, and an M.S. in Computer Information Systems from the University of Pennsylvania. Patricia is the mother of a current EPS 10th grader.

John Glover. Trustee.

John Glover is a co-founder of DDJ Collab, a marketing and brand strategy firm focused on helping establish, define and grow technology companies. In the past two years DDJ helped two local start-ups grow and ultimately be acquired by large multinationals (Twango acquired by Nokia in 2007 and Pi Corp acquired by EMC in 2008). Prior to starting DDJ, he worked for eight years at Microsoft in a variety of marketing positions, including the successful launches of Office 2000, Office Update and the Site Builder Network. John worked as a securities trader prior to getting his MBA from the University of Michigan and then moving on to Microsoft. John is currently the Vice-President for Volunteerism for the EPS Parent Association. His daughter, Emma, is a 8th grader at EPS.

Stacy Graven. Trustee.

Stacy is the Executive Director of Meydenbauer Convention Center, a Public Development Authority, located in Bellevue, WA. In 1990, she began work at Meydenbauer Center as the Director of Sales and Marketing prior to opening of the facility 1993. In March 1994 Stacy was made the Executive Director. Prior to Meydenbauer Center she helped in the development and opening of the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle from 1983-1990, where she worked in construction development, sales and operations. Stacy currently serves as Chairman of the KidsQuest Children’s Museum Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Bellevue Doers. Stacy has a BA in Communications from Washington State University and graduated from Newport High School wntown Association. She previously served on the boards of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and the Eastside District Board of the YMCA. She is a member of the Bellevue Rotary and the International Association of Venue Managin Bellevue, WA. She is married to Ken Johnsen and has two boys who attend Eastside Prep, Cole Johnsen (5th) and Chase Johnsen (7th).

Sarah Hager. Trustee.

Sarah is an author of children’s literature and she joined the Board in July, 2005. A graduate of Smith College, she has a degree in philosophy. Her picture book, Dancing Matilda, was published by HarperCollins, and she is currently working on her second novel for middle-school readers. Her first novel, The Thorndycrafts, is being represented by the Dunham Literary Agency. She has also received two first place awards in the annual Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest. A “practicing writer,” Sarah frequently attends writing workshops, and recently accompanied two Eastside Prep students to a workshop in California. She has three children including her youngest son, who was part of the class of 2011 from Eastside Prep. Sarah’s years of school volunteering, in addition to classroom and library work, included two years on the Bennett Elementary School Program Delivery Council. As a PTSA officer, she twice conducted Bennett’s campaign for the Bellevue School District’s School Levy and she also served as a legislative issues liaison.

Janet Levinger. Immediate Past President, Trustee Emeritus.

Janet Levinger Since 1996, Janet has worked as a community volunteer and an advocate for children. She currently serves on the boards of United Way King County, League of Education Voters, Social Venture Partners, Child Care Resources, and Bellevue Schools Foundation and on the Advancement Committee of Thrive by Five Washington. She co-chairs the Brown University campaign in the Seattle area. Janet worked in marketing, marketing programs, and training for startup and established high-tech companies. She has one child at Eastside Prep, in grade 12 and her oldest child was a member of Eastside Prep’s inaugural graduating class in 2009. She has a BA Magna Cum Laude from Brown University.

Andrew Lewis. Trustee.

Andrew Lewis, is Vice President of the Board and he chairs the Institutional Advancement Committee. He served as Director and Vice President at Immunex Corporation (acquired by Amgen) and retired in 2002. He has over 20 years of project and operations management experience, combined with in-depth knowledge of research and development. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University in Microbiology. He joined the Eastside Preparatory School Board of Trustees in 2006. Andy’s son is currently a Senior at EPS.

Steve Miller. Trustee.

Graduating from the University of Washington Business school in 1981 with a degree in Finance, Steve has spent 30 years building a few businesses, including an export oriented food ingredients business (James Farrell & Co.), a logistics center (Colo Logistics), and an ingredients blending facility.(Colo Blending). Steve has served on a number of industry centric boards, as well as working with his wife Libby, on Hooves with Heart, a startup non-profit helping emotionally challenged kids learn important life skills by developing relationships with horses. He lives on Mercer Island with Libby and their two teenage children. Charlie is a new freshman at EPS upper school.

John Molloy. Board Treasurer.

John Molloy worked at Microsoft for 11 years in a variety of leadership capacities including finance, operations, IT, compensation & benefits, and developer business strategy/community roles. During his term as General Manager of Compensation & Benefits, he drove ground-breaking compensation changes that made Microsoft a hi-tech industry leader in company-wide restricted stock and stock option buy-back programs. Prior to Microsoft, he was the Director of Finance and HR at Electronic Arts Bellevue; was an Audit Manager at Clark, Nuber CPAs and a CPA at KPMG Peat Marwick. John received his Accounting and Business degree at the University of Washington. John has always been involved in community efforts as a President of the Bellevue Junior Rotary (Rotoract), founding member and treasurer of the UW chapter of the Beta Alphi Psi Pre-Law Fraternity and President of his 280 home homeowners association. John’s sons are in the 6th and 8th grade at EPS.

Maureen O'Hara. Board Secretary, Trustee Emeritus.

Maureen O’Hara Secretary of the Board of Trustees. She chairs the Accreditation Committee and sits on the Institutional Advancement, and Assets Management Committees. Maureen teaches part-time in the school of Business Management at the University of Washington and does management consulting. Holding a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Management Information Science, Maureen has worked for over 24 years in the software development industry. She is also on the board of directors at NYHS on Mercer Island. In her spare time, Maureen is part of a bio-tech start-up and is an avid cyclist. Her son graduated from EPS in 2010.

Sasha Press. Trustee.

Sasha has held a number of finance and accounting positions in the telecommunications and wireless industries for over 20 years. She relocated to Seattle in 1992 to join the start-up team for Western Wireless and served as its Principal Accounting Officer, Controller of its International business and Vice President of Internal Audit until the company’s sale in 2005. Sasha holds a BA in Economics from George Washington University and is a CPA. She has served as a Board Member and Treasurer of Northwest Children’s Fund. Sasha has two sons, one in 6th grade at EPS and a second in 3rd grade.

Randall Reina. Trustee.

Randall Reina serves as senior vice-president of Digital Product Development and runs the McGraw-Hill Center for Digital Innovation, which builds and delivers web-based instructional programs for the K-12 school market. Randy spent the first part of his career as a teacher and administrator in both public and private schools before joining McGraw-Hill in 1998. While at McGraw-Hill, Randy led digital product development efforts, ran the Inside Sales group, and built integrated email marketing and ecommerce capabilities. Randy has a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.B.A. from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Randy has one daughter who is a sophomore at Eastside Prep and one who is a senior.

Rob Short. Vice-President.

Rob Short is taking a break, studying uses of technology in the developing world, after 30 years as a designer and manager in high technology. For eight years he was a Corporate Vice President for Windows Technology at Microsoft leading the design of the operating system core as well as managing the complex partnerships with the other companies in the industry. Leaving Microsoft in 2007, Rob lived with his family in France for year. He volunteers with several groups, has travelled to Ghana to build homes with Habitat for Humanity and helps build software for Microfinance in the developing world. Rob is a graduate of CIT in Cork, Ireland and also holds a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Washington. Rob and his wife have a daughter in 8th grade at Eastside Prep.

Dev Stahlkopf. Trustee.

Dev Stahlkopf is a senior attorney for Microsoft. She was selected for the distinction Rising Stars of Washington Law by Washington Law & Politics in 2006. Dev also served as the Managing Editor of the Arizona Law Review. She holds numerous degrees, including her law degree from the University of Arizona College of Law, two Master of Arts degrees in Philosophy (one from Duke University and one from the University of Arizona), as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. Dev joined the Eastside Preparatory School Board of Trustees in 2006.

Kathy Weber. Trustee.

Kathy Weber has been a private Wealth Manager at Smith Barney since 1982. She has received top honors by being in Barron’s Top 100 Women Financial Advisors in 2007 and 2008, and Seattle Magazine’s, Best in Client Satisfaction, Top Wealth Manager in 2007 and 2008. Kathy is currently a member of the Director’s Advisory Group and Director.s Council at Smith Barney, The East King County Estate Planning Council, the Seattle Philanthropic Advisor’s Network, and the Washington Women’s Foundation. She has been a Certified Financial Planner since November 1997, and has graduated from the Wharton School at U Penn, CIMA, and the University of Washington with a BA in Art History. Kathy is a mother of a university Senior, and has a 10th grade son at EPS.
