Our School - Eastside Prep is an Independent, Coeducational School
An Independent School
As an independent school, EPS is governed by our Board of Trustees and must adhere to rigorous accreditation standards overseen by the Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools. Since EPS receives no government funding, we have the ability to develop our own curriculum and establish higher standards for our faculty. What does this mean for parents and students of EPS?
- The ability to design our own curriculum allows for variety and creativity in teaching, course content and the ability to tailor and accelerate classes according to the needs of our students. Excellent teachers are attracted to EPS because of the opportunities for integration of disciplines and the very supportive, collegial culture.
- We are selective. We shape our learning community by choosing students and families who place a high value on an excellent education. Faculty and staff are selected based upon education, experience, range of ability, and best fit our mission and vision.
- We make the choice to have small class sizes, focus closely on each individual child’s strengths and challenges and foster meaningful relationships among students and faculty.
A Coeducational School
We often describe EPS as a school for the 21st century. We believe that when students learn to interact and collaborate with others regardless of gender, they build confidence and are introduced to a wider variety of ideas and opinions. Male and female students learning together is an essential component of a truly preparatory program.
