Service Learning

Eastside Prep’s Vision, To Inspire Students to Create a Better World, guides our service program. The goal of the service program is to teach students about the needs, issues, and problems facing their community and world and then to empower students to take the lead in meeting those needs, addressing those issues, and solving those problems. So instead of compelling students to serve as part of a graduation requirement, we inspire them to serve. The difference is notable. Instead of students learning that service is something they have to do, they learn that service is something they get to do. Instead of following the school’s plan for service, students follow their own plan, work to address the issues they care most about, and engage in authentic service.

Service organizations require volunteers to sign liability forms and may require applications as well. If you are 16 years of age or younger, you will need to be accompanied by an adult. Contact the organization’s volunteer coordinator for full details.

We hope that this list of service organizations will inspire you to service and will help you as you plan own service experience!
