Community Briefing: June 9

A briefing will be sent to the entire community every school day at this time.

Our graduation ceremony is scheduled for 1:00pm on Friday, June 12. We have also learned that June 12 will be a state-wide strike and march, called for by Black Lives Matter. Because we have families in our community who will want to take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the strike and/or march, we do not want to require them to choose between something they want to support and a major moment for the Class of 2020.

Diplomas will still be delivered on Friday morning as originally scheduled and we will host a live event for graduation at 1:00pm. For those who wish not to view the ‘premiere’ of graduation, a link will be made available after 1:00pm. We hope this decision will convey our support for families who want to exercise their civil rights by participating in the Black Lives Matter strike, as well as families who may have made personal/family plans to expand their celebration in relation to the graduation ceremony.

The Senior Night set for tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 10, will take place as scheduled.

Clarification on Health Forms

Please log into SchoolDoc!/home/auth/login to ensure that your student’s profile is complete* prior to the due date of July 15.

Since EPS has forgone the need for annual physicals for this year due to the COVID situation, all existing physical exam dates for every student have been manually entered into SchoolDoc.  Please note:

If a physical exam from 2019 appears, you do not need to obtain a new physical exam.  Please note that physician-signed Prescription Medication Authorization, Life-Threatening Allergy Action Plans, Asthma Action Care Plans, Seizure Action Care Plans and Diabetes Care Plans must be submitted annually. These forms can be found in the allergies and health history sub-sections.  If you choose to obtain a physical exam, please upload the new exam, update the form with the new exam date, and retain a copy for your records.  Please note that a copy of the physical exam (not just the date of the exam) is required in all cases.

If a physical exam from 2018 appears, either no physical exam was on file or the latest exam occurred in 2018.  A new physical exam is needed prior to July 15.  Please upload the new exam to the physical exam sub-section, update the form with the new exam date, and retain a copy for your records.

Next year we will resume the policy of annual exams. Every student will need an exam after January 1, 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year so please take this into consideration when scheduling future exams.

*Due to the situation with physical exams, you may not be able to reach 100% completion in the physical exam section. Please be sure that all other sections are 100% complete.

Questions, contact School Nurse Stephanie Hinson.

Locker Belongings

Students who have items in their lockers should have those items reclaimed by Friday, June 12th. All items not claimed by that date will be donated or discarded.  Please email Bob Baldwin to schedule a time to be on campus.

Quarantine Question

For our next issue of Inspire magazine we’d like to highlight activities that members of our community discovered or re-discovered during quarantine. Maybe it was baking or puzzles or walking your neighborhood!  Whatever the activity, we’d like to hear about it. And if you have photos, please send them along with the description of your activity. This is for EPS parents, faculty, staff and students—we’d love to hear from everyone! Please send information to Vickie Baldwin.

Laptop Warranties

If you have a x260 or x460 laptop purchased through Eastside Prep, the four-year warranty and accidental damage coverage expires on July 10th of this year. If you have any repairs needed, whether it is a cracked palm rest or a loose screen hinge, you want to get that processed before the coverage expires.

If your laptop falls into the above category, contact to tell us what the issues are and let us know when you would be dropping it off (after finals). We will take it from there and contact you when the machine has been repaired.
