Local Farm to Table: forage, plant, learn, cook and enjoy from a Pacific Northwest menu (8th–12th)
Dates: Monday, April 11th – Friday, April 15th
Price Range: $500 – $1,000
Theme: Local Food Sustainability
You may wonder, does it really matter where and how our food is grown? Can eating meat impact climate change? Is there more we can do to eat sustainably? During EBC Week 2022, students will explore many facets of how food moves from Farm to Table (F2T) in our region. We will tour local farms, visit with those who work the land and volunteer in demo gardens. Students will explore how mushrooms are grown in the Snoqualmie Valley and talk with the farmers at Washington state’s only biodynamic farm. While being inspired at two local F2T dinners, students will plan a full menu for our own F2T lunch on Friday, hosted by you. During our dinners, we will talk with chefs about how they source their ingredients and the challenges that come with supporting local farms. The Farm to Table week may also include a food-themed book discussion.
