Students will learn to ground their gaming experience in World of Warcraft (WOW) through data collection and analysis to maximize the performance of their characters progress using statistical models. They will also learn to use the auction house as a way to generate revenue to improve their performance by acquiring better gear with better statistics. The auction house will be used as a simplified model for the stock market. As a group (WOW guild), we will plan our character distribution, professions and roles with the goal to complete difficult content (dungeons) and maximize revenue on the auction house. Students will be required to keep a journal for data collection and analysis. Approximately half of each day will be devoted to playing the game while keeping track of data while the other half of the day will be on analyzing that data to plan for improvement strategies that will lead into the next days. Please note that no gaming experience is necessary for this workshop. This is a safe space to explore a MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role playing game). Girls are encouraged to enter this gaming experience.
