Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico was struck by the Hurricane Maria (Category 5) in 2017, and the damage was massive across the country. Join us as we visit this US Territory and witness the ongoing clean-up and restoration of the community and its environment. This EBC trip will focus on the culture and needs of Puerto Ricans. This will be a grass-roots trip including rustic, dormitory accommodations but also alternate between time in rural communities and also in the vibrant capital city of San Juan. We will visit and hear about restoration efforts to address housing, food, sanitation, and education. But we will also plan plenty of time to explore the natural beauty of this island and enjoy Puerto Rican culture, art, and delicious food. Highlights will likely include a local cooking class, snorkeling, hiking in the rainforest, and a night boat trip on the infamous bioluminescent bay near Fajardo. This EBC is sponsored by our partner World Leadership School, so that we can benefit from their extensive connections and experience working with local community leaders and organizations in Puerto Rico. Join us for this adventure to the Enchanted Island!
