Jonathan Briggs

Director of Strategy, Technology, and Innovation, Evolution of Society

B.A., Physics, Williams College

Jonathan joined Eastside Prep in 2005 as the school’s first Director of Technology. Over two decades, he has guided the school through major technological transitions, from implementing the Middle School laptop program to leading the adoption of Canvas as EPS’s Learning Management System in 2012. He now leads the school’s approach to artificial intelligence. Jonathan oversees the selection and implementation of the systems that run the school, and has developed software that improves student and teacher experiences, including four11, EPS’s student information system, as well as tools for course requests and the course catalog. He also supports student initiatives to create their own software solutions.

Jonathan advises the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees on AI while facilitating faculty workgroups exploring AI integration in the classroom. He initiated the in-residence program in 2025, bringing Colleague.AI to campus to collaborate directly with the school. He has contributed to dozens of school initiatives and building projects, designing technology-enabled learning spaces and developing curriculum while ensuring that technology serves the school’s educational mission.

Jonathan’s work involves close collaboration with teams across the school. He works alongside the technology team, whose day-to-day operations and support keep the school running smoothly, as well as academic operations and other departments, to ensure technology enhances their efforts. His approach is guided by a belief that the best solutions come from diverse perspectives and that technology should free up time for the community to focus on what matters most: building relationships and creating meaningful learning experiences. Prior to joining EPS, he taught math and physics, chaired the upper school science department, and coached volleyball and golf at the Bentley School in California.

“The agility and curiosity of the faculty around improving their craft is inspiring. They tackle new ideas with ease and use tried and true methods when those make the most sense.”
