Encuentra la belleza de la música, comida, arquitectura, y costumbres en el sur de España durante este viaje en una de las ciudades más bonitas e históricas del planeta. Sevilla es una ciudad pequeña, fácil de caminar, y llena de flores en primavera. En nuestro viaje vamos a aprender la historia de esta ciudad desde el Rey Fernando y la Reina Isabel y su impacto en el colonialismo del hemisferio oeste, hasta la arquitectura moderna y el turismo de hoy. Veremos un espectáculo de flamenco y aprenderemos algo de las culturas que combinan para formar esta forma de arte, y pasaremos un rato con adolescentes sevillanos para aprender y compartir costumbres, entre muchas otras actividades culturales. Esta experiencia fuera del aula está diseñada para ser inmersión total en español. Recomendamos que estés matriculado/a/e en el nivel de español 3 este año para solicitar puesto en el grupo pero NO es necesario, ya que la actitud positiva y tener ganas de aprender son realmente más importantes en poder disfrutar de la experiencia. Todas las instrucciones, las actividades, y las conversaciones del grupo serán en español.
[Find the beauty of music, food, architecture, and customs in southern Spain during this trip in one of the most beautiful and historic cities on the planet. Seville is a small city, easily walkable, and full of flowers in spring. On our trip we will learn the complex history of this city – from King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella and their impact on the colonialism of the Western Hemisphere, to modern architecture and tourism today. We will see a flamenco show and learn about the mix of cultures that create this art form. We also spend some time with Sevillian teenagers to learn and share customs and participate in cultural activities. This experience is designed to be a total immersion in Spanish. We recommend that you are enrolled in Spanish Level 3 this year to apply for a place in the group but it is NOT a requirement, as a positive attitude and a desire to learn are really more important in being able to enjoy the experience. All instructions, activities, and conversations of the group will be in Spanish.]- Students and families should be aware that this experience includes:

Descubre la belleza de la música, la comida, la arquitectura, las costumbres y la naturaleza del sur de España durante este viaje a dos de las ciudades más hermosas e históricas de Europa.
Visitaremos Sevilla. Esta es una ciudad pequeña, fácil de caminar, y llena de flores en primavera. En nuestro viaje vamos a aprender sobre la historia de esta ciudad desde los tiempos del Rey Fernando y la Reina Isabel y su impacto en el colonialismo del hemisferio occidental, hasta la arquitectura moderna y el turismo de hoy. Veremos un espectáculo de baile flamenco y aprenderemos un poco sobre las culturas que se combinan para darle forma a esta singular expresión artística. Pasaremos un rato con adolescentes sevillanos para aprender y compartir costumbres, entre muchas otras actividades culturales.
Viajaremos a Málaga, la ciudad natal del famoso pintor Pablo Picasso, en donde caminaremos por las angostas calles del centro histórico y visitaremos el Museo Picasso. Desde Málaga, exploraremos el famoso Caminito del Rey, un paso construido en el Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, para admirar la belleza de la roca y el río Guadalhorce. Esto y más nos espera en la hermosa Andalucía. Esta experiencia fuera del aula está diseñada para ser de inmersión total en español. Recomendamos que estés matriculado/a/e en el nivel de Español 3 este año para solicitar puesto en el grupo, pero no es necesario, ya que la actitud positiva y tener ganas de aprender son realmente más importantes para poder disfrutar de esta experiencia. Discover the beauty of the music, food, architecture, customs, and nature of southern Spain during this trip to two of Europe’s most beautiful and historic cities.
We will visit Seville. This small city is easy to walk around in, and it is bursting with flowers in the spring. On our trip, we will learn about the history of this city, from the time of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella and their impact on colonialism in the Western Hemisphere, to the modern architecture and tourism of today. We will witness a flamenco dance performance and gain insight into the cultures that converge to shape this distinctive artistic expression. We will spend time with Sevillian teenagers to learn about and share customs, as well as engage in various other cultural activities.
We will travel to Málaga, the birthplace of the famous painter Pablo Picasso, where we will stroll through the narrow streets of the historic center and visit the Picasso Museum. From Malaga, we will explore the famous Caminito del Rey, a passageway built in the Gaitanes Gorge, to admire the beauty of the rock and the Guadalhorce River. This and more await us in beautiful Andalucía. This out-of-class experience is designed to be a total Spanish immersion experience. We recommend that you be enrolled in Spanish Level 3 this year to apply for a spot in the group, but it is not required, as a positive attitude and a desire to learn are truly more important for enjoying this experience. All instructions, activities, and group discussions will be in Spanish.
