Yiyun earned her MFA in Illustration from Towson University in Towson, Maryland. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University in Shanghai, China. Yiyun began teaching in 2009 with experience ranging from college level to children’s drawing and painting. With her art education background in both the East and West, she’s able to utilize both to its advantage in her teaching. As an educator, Yiyun utilizes enriching teaching methods to foster the students’ artistic talents.

She is also an Illustration artist with artwork being selected and exhibited in many art galleries, such as Woman’s National Democratic Club, Washington, D.C, University of Maryland Art Gallery, College Park, MD. Yiyun also received multiple art awards from Gold Circle Awards, Columbia University, New York, Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Certificate of Excellence, New York, etc.

Yiyun is honored to be a part of the EPS visual arts team. She hopes to be an instructor who opens a new world to the students, with passion, enthusiasm, and creativity. She hopes to utilize all the knowledge she has to help students to understand art and inspire them to use creative outlets to express themselves.

“I always believe that experience should be strongly connected with artistic expression. And Inspiration is experience. I don’t believe art is like a spark; art is an accumulation of any kind of culture. Students should have the ability of observation for their own life, which will help them to explore their ideas and understand the cultures in a different artistic field.”
