Insight: Caring for the Campus with Clarity
By Jordan Lettau, Director of Operations
During the school day, hallways are humming with student activity. The LPC is bursting with hungry students and faculty/staff. But during the late-night and early-morning hours, much of the Facilities team’s work is completed. When the buildings are empty, our teams reset classrooms, clean and prepare common areas, complete repairs, and coordinate vendor work. This unseen effort ensures that every morning begins in clean, safe, and supportive learning and belonging spaces.
Clarity is at the heart of how we care for our community. Clear communication, expectations, schedules, and systems allow us to work efficiently and predictably, reducing confusion and keeping the campus running smoothly. But clarity is more than operational efficiency—it is an act of care. When our processes are transparent and reliable, students and staff experience a campus that feels welcoming and secure. Whether directing morning traffic with consistent signals or tracking safety inspections in our facilities management system, clarity allows us to prevent problems before they impact the community. In this way, being efficient is part of how we build trust.
As we look to the future, our responsibility is to adapt with intention. Caring for the community means strengthening relationships across departments, deepening our partnerships with expert vendors, and refining the systems that support daily operations. We are committed to anticipating needs, improving processes, and scaling safely as demands shift. Above all, we will continue investing in the people who embody our mission—those who greet families with a smile, maintain safe pathways, respond during emergencies, and prepare spaces effectively.
Our Facilities team is grateful for the opportunity to serve EPS. Through clarity, care, and a process-driven approach, we will continue supporting a thriving community by creating safe, clean, and efficient spaces that support and inspire our community to do their best work.
