Christopher I. Li, MD, PhD


Dr. Christopher Li is a Full Professor at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and is a Research Full Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Washington. His research focuses on breast and colorectal cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship. At Fred Hutch he also serves as the founding Faculty Director for the Hutch’s newly created Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In this role he oversees efforts related to health disparities research, recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, educational programs to advance a culture of equity and inclusion, and work with key local and national partners. He completed his MD at the University of California, San Francisco, his PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Washington, and his BS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University.

Chris and his wife Emily live in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood with their two children the oldest of whom is a member of Eastside Prep’s class of 2023.
