Introduction
We use the word “community” frequently at Eastside Preparatory School (EPS), but it isn’t the word that matters. What matters is that every parent/guardian and student at Eastside Prep feels welcome to ask any question, request any assistance, or express any idea. As an independent school, we accept the immediate accountability that exists between school and home as an exceptionally important and valuable aspect of our culture. We expect to be called, emailed, and visited by parents/guardians and by students. We expect to be notified if there is a problem, a situation, or an issue that may be impacting student learning in a less than positive way.
If you have any concern whatsoever, and you are not sure how to bring it to the attention of the school, please speak with your Division Head, the Director of Enrollment Management, or me—the Head of School—at the moment the concern arises. Do not let things go unresolved because you think that either we will not respond, or you don’t want to “get someone in trouble.” It isn’t possible for an adult member of this community to be “in trouble.” It is my expectation that every adult at Eastside Prep will be courteous, responsive, supportive, and positive in all communication with all students and parents/guardians. You can be absolutely assured that you can bring us ideas, worries, complaints, or compliments—and we’ll accept them all professionally and in a way that will make you glad you made the effort.
Communication is often spoken about as the ubiquitous problem in all organizations. It’s really not. All we have to do is talk to each other. That, in fact, is what makes a group of people a community.
Welcome to a great school year—
