Resilience Series for Parents

Well-being and resilience are both individual and collective endeavors – and during these difficult times, caring for ourselves, our families and our communities has taken on increased importance. In this year-long series we address the “me”, “you” and “we” of resilience and care.  Grounded in evidence-based approaches to resilience and well-being we will explore techniques and practices for building resilience in ourselves, even in the most difficult of times; how to care for and strengthen relationships in our family and how to extend our circle of concern to our community at large.  Held monthly, these 90 minute sessions will be both didactic and experiential in nature. We will alternate sessions between the morning and evenings so as many of you can attend as possible — all sessions will also be recorded to watch at your own convenience.

Kelly Moore, PhD, previously the Director of Counseling and Learning Support at EPS is currently our Scholar in Residence for Well-being and runs our parent programs here. For any questions about this series, please contact her at

In addition to the monthly talks, we will also be holding smaller practice groups to digest what we’ve learned in the larger sessions, have a place to share progress and to practice some of the exercises introduced in the larger group. These are led by fellow EPS current and alumni parents who have participated in Dr. Moore’s groups for several years and have had an additional year of facilitation training. Exact days and times will be announced shortly.

If you are interested in participating in EITHER the large group and/or smaller practice groups, please sign up here: RESILIENT PARENT SERIES.  Once signed up, you will receive email reminders for the lecture series and if applicable, practice sessions along with the links to attend each. Further, we will email you with the recordings from the lectures and any materials covered.

All large sessions will be recorded to play back at your convenience. Here is the recording from yesterday’s introduction talk held during the PA Meeting.    Here is a PDF of the slide deck from yesterday’s meeting. Also, much of the material from today comes from the work of Dr. Kelly McGonigal of Stanford University. Here is her famous TED Talk on Stress if you’d like to dig in further!
