The Eastside Prep Experience

The essence of the Eastside Preparatory School Upper School is to provide a reciprocally respectful, intellectually engaging environment in which everyone is a learner.  As the school’s name indicates, the curriculum is designed to prepare students for success in college; it is equally intended that the program prepare students to understand and practice the responsibilities of citizenship.   Beginning in 9th grade, when students are faced with the rare experience of choosing history and English electives, the charge is to take ownership of one’s education. Students are pressed both to master the concepts and material presented in individual classes and to relate the material to their own experience. Interdisciplinary thinking is central to our academic mission.

Students also develop personal interests outside the classroom. Teachers are academic and personal mentors who enjoy interacting with students in many facets of their lives. The intent of the program is to develop learned, mature, motivated, and interesting people. EPS believes this happens best when learning extends outside the boundaries of single classes and includes student interests and activities.
