EPS Ventures Program:
Getting Students Out There!
EPS Ventures: Explore, Connect, Discover
There is tremendous value in exploring the world beyond the classroom—connecting with nature, engaging in physical activity, and participating in cultural and community experiences. EPS Ventures builds on the success of our outdoor program and expands it to include both outdoor and indoor experiences that challenge students physically, mentally, socially, and even spiritually.
EPS Ventures is our school-year, out-of-school program for informal outings and experiences. Most are half- or full-day trips within the Greater Seattle area and are designed and led by EPS faculty with particular expertise or passion. These ventures may range from mountain biking or museum visits to community festivals or tidepool explorations.
Most EPS Ventures are open to both Middle and Upper School students, supporting the multi-age connection and community-building that make EPS unique.
What to Expect from an EPS Venture
Our goal is to provide easy entry points for students, even those with little or no prior experience, while also offering paths toward deeper skill development and more challenging opportunities. Every outing is designed with the following outcomes in mind:
- Fun and Wonder
Whether hiking in the Cascades, exploring quirky local spots, or taking in a live theater performance, students are invited to enjoy the adventure, laugh together, and discover the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. - Skill Development
Students can try new activities—kayaking, forest bathing, visiting galleries—as curious beginners. These skills may grow into lifelong interests or prepare them for more advanced Ventures and EBC trips. - Challenge and Chill
Ventures range in intensity, from rigorous hikes to calm nature walks. Outing descriptions will note the level of challenge, so students can choose what suits their comfort and energy. - Shared Passion
Many Ventures are led by faculty or students who are excited to share their knowledge, talent, or fascination. These shared interests foster deeper connections and inspire discovery. - Leave No Trace & New Perspectives
Students will learn and practice respect—for nature, for one another, and for the diverse communities and histories we encounter. Our Ventures emphasize environmental stewardship and openness to new stories.
EPS Ventures is designed to meet students where they are—with short, accessible outings that build toward multi-day experiences requiring deeper knowledge or prerequisite skills.
